Bird watching in the Black Forest
Self-guided tour (1 week)

You will stay in a small village situated on the lower slopes of the Black Forest. The *** hotel accommodation, romantically situated in the heart of the forest, is an ideal starting point for local birding. Within a short walking distance you can see Black, Grey-headed and Middle-spotted Woodpeckers as well as Wryneck. In the nearby higher elevations of the forest you can see Citril Finches, Spotted Nutcrackers, Pigmy, Boreal and Eagle Owls. In the Rhine flats you can find Bluethroat as well as Penduline Tits or Purple Heron and in the hottest part of Germany, south of Strasbourg, Bee-eaters as well as Hoopoes.

All the Black Forest self guided tours are available from March to October (from August to October is mushroom time). As these tours are bookable with a choice of *** accommodation or local standard bed and breakfast, regular flights or Ryanair, they are very affordable even for those with a small budget. Bicycle hire is also available locally with daily rates starting from £ 8 or £ 34 per week. Local car hire is also possible.
